The WATTSTOR™ is a solar storage system which banks your excess renewable energy in a battery instead of feeding it back to the grid. This means you are able to use your renewable energy as and when you need it, and not only when it is being generated. Solar energy storage is an important growth market of the next five years and this partnership means that the UK has the opportunity to be at the forefront of technology development.
Wattstor Solar Storage
A Wattstor system primarily comprises of:
- Inverter charger
- Switch gear box
- DC cables
- Remote Monitor
The WATTSTOR™ detects when power is being exported from the property. When this happens it will firstly supply your domestic loads (washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers etc.) and when these are satisfied it will then divert the surplus renewable power to charge the batteries. If there is still surplus power available this will be diverted to the immersion heater in a hot water tank to provide FREE hot water. When there is no renewable power being generated, the batteries will supply power to your property.
The WATTSTOR™ 3/3 can store 3kWh (units) of electricity. The WATTSTOR™ 5/6 can store 6kWh of electricity. Thereafter in multiples of 3kWh extension packs.
The standard warranty for the whole WATTSTOR™ is 5 years. The battery warranty can be extended to 10 years for a small additional cost.
This depends not just on your usage but also when the electricity is consumed. Generally a household consuming more than 4000kWh per year which is typically unoccupied during the day would benefit from a WATTSTOR™. All properties are different and the WATTSTOR™ can be tailor-made to suit.
The WATTSTOR™ will continue to supply electricity to your home until the batteries are exhausted. However, your Solar PV renewable energy system will still be able to generate electricity and can be used to supply your appliances and recharge the batteries. Without a WATTSTOR™, your Solar PV renewable energy system would shut down.
Yes, the available storage can be increased in multiples of 3kWh.
The WATTSTOR™ can be located in any covered area, e.g. garage, utility room, external housing. Ideally, it should be sited as close as possible to the electricity meter or consumer unit. The Home Logic surveyor will be able to advise you.
